Doll will serve a one-year term as president-elect of the NSGS, which has a membership of more than 700. The section's focus is the application of geophysical methods to help solve environmental, archaeological and mining problems.
A research scientist in the Environmental Sciences Division, Doll joined ORNL in 1991 after obtaining his bachelor of science degree from Montana State University and his master of science and doctorate degrees in geophysics from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
Doll previously served as NSGS secretary. He also is a member of the Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society and the American Geophysical Union.
He and his wife, Terry, have three children, Brian, Stephen and Anita. They live in Oak Ridge.
