Nancy L. Gray, a planning analyst at the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), has been named ORNL Protocol Officer.
In her new capacity, Gray will serve as the focal point for coordination, administration and conduct of visits and briefings for ORNL's guests, sponsors, customers and other dignitaries. Gray previously managed ORNL's award fee activities, monitored research and development measures of performance and produced the annual publication "ORNL Indicators." She originally joined ORNL in 1986 as a technical librarian in the Information Services Division, where she was recognized several times for superior performance.
Gray's master's degree in library science from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville was preceded by a bachelor of arts in English from George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University.
She is a member of the American Society for Information Science and the East Tennessee Online Users Group. Gray was recently elected president of Leadership Oak Ridge Class of 1994 and is an active YWCA volunteer. She and her husband, W. Harvey, along with their sons, Harvey Jr. and Michael, live in Oak Ridge.
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory, one of the Department of Energy's multiprogram national research and development facilities, is managed by Martin Marietta Energy Systems, which also manages the Oak Ridge K-25 Site and the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant.
