Lin was elected a fellow of the American Ceramic Society, chair of the organization's Engineering Ceramics Division and was appointed chair of the editorial board of the publication Engineered Ceramics Journal, a new American Ceramic Society journal that will commence publishing in January 2004.
He is on the senior research and development staff of the Ceramic Science and Technology Group of the laboratory's Metals and Ceramics Division.
In addition to his membership in the American Ceramic Society, Lin also has memberships in the American Society of Metals International, Alpha Sigma Mu and Sigma Xi.
Lin received a fellowship award from the Japan Science and Technology Cooperation and awards from Lockheed Martin for his work in technology transfer and technical achievement.
He earned a master's degree and doctorate in materials engineering from Auburn University.
Lin and his wife, Mei-Ling Lin, reside in Oak Ridge with two children, Albert and Ashley.
