The STA award was presented for Lin's leadership and achievement in his research of high-temperature mechanical behavior of ceramics and ceramic composites.
Lin joined ORNL in 1992 and is a research staff member of the Structural Ceramics Group in the Metals and Ceramics Division.
He received a bachelor's degree in physics from the National Central University, Taiwan. He earned his master's degree and doctorate in materials engineering from Auburn University.
Lin is a member of the American Society for Metals International, the Minerals, Metals and Materials Society and ACS. He received Martin Marietta Energy Systems (MMES) Technical Support Awards in 1993 and 1996 and an MMES Technical Achievement Award in 1991.
He and his wife, Mei-Ling, live in Oak Ridge. They have two children, Albert and Ashley.
