ORNL earns Small Business Administration award

The Small Business Administration has presented its Award of Distinction to the Small Business Program office of the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Will Minter, ORNL's small business program manager, was commended for his strong support of the company's small business program.

Will plays a significant role in promoting opportunities for small businesses at ORNL, said Liz Hopewell, SBA's associate administrator for government subcontracting in a letter to ORNL management announcing the award. His efforts have produced significant results.

The award was initiated in 1985 as a way to recognize large federal contractors that have exceptional small business subcontracting programs. Fewer than two percent of SBA's portfolio of large contractors have earned this award.

Minter noted the ORNL award was earned as a team effort.

We have earned this special award due to the dedication shown by this laboratory's procurement organization and other staff throughout ORNL, Minter said. Their combined efforts truly make this an award of distinction.

ORNL is a multiprogram science and technology laboratory managed by UT-Battelle for the Department of Energy.
