Azmy, who has worked at ORNL since 1986, was selected for significant and innovative development of solving equations in nuclear applications and implementing them on advanced multiprocessor computers. The award identifies and rewards meritorious contributions to the nuclear engineering profession by members who are in the early stages of their careers, and is intended to stimulate further achievements by young individuals to enhance engineering in the nuclear energy field.
Azmy is a member of the ANS and the Phi Kappa Phi professional organization. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Alexandria (Egypt) and a master's degree and doctorate from the University of Illinois.
He and his wife, Inas Messiha, live in Knoxville and have two children, Christina, 8, and Joseph, 7.
ORNL, one of DOE's multiprogram national research and development facilities, is managed by Lockheed Martin Energy Systems, which also manages the Oak Ridge K-25 Site and the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant.
