ORNL researcher elected fellow of American Nuclear Society

Dr. Rusi Teleyarkhan, group leader and program manager in the Engineering and Technology Division of the Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), has been elected a fellow by the board of directors of the American Nuclear Society.

Teleyarkan has been project manager since 1988 for projects ranging from nuclear safety to explosion initiation/prevention and novel propulsion systems development. He is also editor of The Nuclear Safety Journal.

He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, master's degrees in nuclear engineering and business administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a doctorate in nuclear engineering from Rensselaer.

He and his wife, Navaz Rusi, live in Farragut and have three children - Pervin, Manaz and Meher.

ORNL is a DOE multiprogram research facility and is managed by Lockheed Martin Energy Research Corporation.
