Miaofang Chi, a researcher at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, has received the 2019 Kurt Heinrich Award from the Microanalysis Society (MAS).  The award is given for distinguished technical contributions to microanalysis by an MAS member within 15 years of their terminal degree.

Chi, who works in the Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences’ Electron & Atom Probe Microscopy group, is only the second person to win both the MAS Heinrich Award and the Microscopy Society of America's Burton Award.

The Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences is a DOE Office of Science User Facility.

ORNL is managed by UT-Battelle for the Department of Energy’s Office of Science, the single largest supporter of basic research in the physical sciences in the United States. DOE’s Office of Science is working to address some of the most pressing challenges of our time. For more information, please visit https://energy.gov/science.
