ORNL's Paranthaman named ACerS fellow

OAK RIDGE, Tenn., June 1, 2015 – Mariappan (Parans) Paranthaman, a researcher at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, has been named a fellow of the American Ceramic Society (ACerS).

Paranthaman’s current research focuses on the preparation of radiation resistant polymer composite films, additive procedures for magnet manufacturing and lithium separation during battery development. He will be recognized with 15 new fellows at the organization’s annual fall banquet and awards ceremony.

ACerS fellows have distinguished themselves through impactful contributions to ceramic arts, ceramic science or scholarship contributing to ceramic technology or outstanding service in the ceramic industry.

Paranthaman, who works in ORNL’s Chemical Sciences Division, was also elected a fellow of ASM International in 2014.
