Scott O. Schwahn, a neutron science facilities health physicist at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, has been named fellow of the Health Physics Society.

Schwahn, who works in ORNL’s Nuclear & Radiological Protection Division, was recognized for “outstanding contributions to the profession of health physics.” Of the society’s almost 3,500 members, just more than 100 have received the designation of fellow.

Schwahn has worked at ORNL since 2008. He holds a Ph.D. in applied physics from Idaho State University.

ORNL is managed by UT-Battelle for the Department of Energy’s Office of Science, the single largest supporter of basic research in the physical sciences in the United States. DOE’s Office of Science is working to address some of the most pressing challenges of our time. For more information, please visit https://energy.gov/science.
