Post recognized for excellence

Dr. W.M. Post of the Environmental Sciences Division at the Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) recently was cited by the editors of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) journal for excellence in refereeing.

The citation recognizes Post's special service to the AGU, commending him for consistently providing constructive and thoughtful review. Post was honored for his contributions as a reviewer of the Journal Global Biogeochemical Cycles by the publication's editor, Jorge Sarmiento.

Post, who joined ORNL in 1980 after obtaining his bachelor of science and master of science degrees in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin and his doctorate in ecology from the University of Tennessee, is a senior scientist in the Environmental Sciences Division.

Post has won the Lockheed Martin Energy Systems Publication Award four times, as well as the Society for Technical Communication, Distinguished Scholarly Article Award twice. He is a member of the Ecological Society of America and the Soil Science Society of America.

Post and his wife, Susan Riechert, have a son, Brian, and reside in Powell.

ORNL, one of DOE's multiprogram national research and development facilities, is managed by Lockheed Martin Energy Research Corporation.
