Bill Schwenterly, research staffer in the Fusion Energy Division of the Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory, has been appointed associate editor for the journal Transactions on Applied Superconductivity.
The journal is published by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). His efforts will focus on articles related to wire, cable and power applications. Schwenterly's ORNL work focuses on applications of superconductors in utility power and fusion energy systems.
Schwenterly earned a bachelor's degree in physics from Yale University and a doctorate in low temperature physics from Cornell University. He has memberships in IEEE and the Cryogenic Society of America. Schwenterly is a resident of West Knoxville and is a member of the Oak Ridge Symphony.
ORNL is a DOE multiprogram research facility and is managed by Lockheed Martin Energy Research Corporation.
