Team UT-Battelle members are participating on Saturdays in all phases of construction of the new home, located on Tuskegee Avenue in Oak Ridge.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for our workforce to get involved in helping a family to achieve the dream of owning their own home," said Brenda Hackworth, ORNL's director of community outreach. "Team UT-Battelle has helped in the past in the construction of Habitat for Humanity homes in Anderson and Morgan counties. Each project is a wonderful experience."
ORNL employee Sherry Livengood has been active with Habitat for years and is thrilled for the ORNL assistance.
"I'm excited that my co-workers can get out on a site, work together and see the accomplishment of putting a needy family into a house that will be a blessing to them for many years to come," Livengood said.
Employees of Pro2Serve in Oak Ridge will also be among those providing manpower in the construction of the Habitat for Humanity home.
ORNL is managed by UT-Battelle for the Department of Energy.
