Thomas appointed to ASME International Board on Government Relations

Brigham Thomas, a business development staff member in the Engineering Technology Division of the Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), has been appointed to the Board on Government Relations of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

ASME International is a worldwide engineering society focused on technical, educational and research issues. ASME's 125,000 members work in all sectors of the economy, including industry, academia and government.

As a board member, Thomas will identify and evaluate issues of importance to mechanical engineering and communicate those to state and federal government leaders and to the public.

Thomas received her bachelor's degree in ceramic engineering from Clemson University. She has experience in various manufacturing and materials related programs due to her previous work with Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems and Pratt and Whitney prior to joining ORNL in 1990 .

She and her husband, Sam, live in Farragut. They have two sons, Patrick and Stuart.

ORNL, one of DOE's multiprogram national research and development facilities, is managed by Lockheed Martin Energy Research Corporation.
