U.S. Women in Nuclear add ORNL’s Ezold to leadership committee

Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Julie Ezold has been named to the steering committee for the U.S. Women in Nuclear.

The U.S. Women in Nuclear has named Julie Ezold, from the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, to its steering committee.

Ezold will serve a three-year term on the committee beginning in July. U.S. WIN works to position the United States for the future of nuclear energy and technology through the advancement of women. The steering committee drives the national agenda, programming, and sets the national strategic and policy goals for U.S. WIN.

Ezold is a nuclear engineer in ORNL’s Isotope and Fuel Cycle Technology Division and serves as the californium-252 program. She has more than 25 years of experience in nuclear science and engineering, including leading the technical and project management activities associated with curium target campaigns.

Outside of her leadership role in isotope production, Ezold is extremely active in nuclear science educational outreach activities, serving on the ORNL Nuclear Science and Engineering Directorate's Educational Outreach Committee and volunteering with schools and universities. 

Ezold received the E. Gail de Planque Medal from the American Nuclear Society in 2019 and the Science Communicator Award at the 2018 UT-Battelle Awards Night. She has also received the ANS Presidential Citation and Patricia Bryant Leadership Award.
