Abstract
We review recent progress on the characterization of
turbulent mixing fluid flow and
relate these ideas to high-speed, two-phase Couette flow
with application to mixing in a centrifugal contactor.
The general ideas are more broadly applicable
and have been applied to the study of Rayleigh-Taylor and Richtmyer-Meshkov
fluid mixing, combustion in the engine of a scram jet and the analysis of
inertial confinement pellet simulations.
