26Al remains an intriguing target for observational gamma-ray astronomy, thanks to its charac- teristic decay. The 25Al(p,γ)26Si reaction is part of a chain that bypasses the production of the observable 26Alg in favor of the isomeric state; its rate at novae temperatures is dominated by a resonance around 400 keV, the precise location and Jπ assignment of which has been hotly debated. Considerable confusion in this regard has arisen from the use of outdated excitation energies and masses. Here, a reanalysis of previous work is completed to first, elucidate the confusion regarding the level structure just above the proton threshold, and second, provide focus to future studies.
