Aaron is an Electrical Engineer with 30+ years of experience in the field of automation control and instrumentation for process systems.  His expertise consists of designing control systems and identifying activities for project management, starting from the conceptual design all the way to the final design and implementing control system integration. He has worked at ORNL at the SNS facility for 15+ years.  Prior to working at SNS he worked 10+years at FM Approval.

 

Aaron has been involved in multiple plant start-ups.  He was the lead instrumentation and control (I&C) engineer, in which he managed the I & C engineering team and directed the electrical contractors.  He served two years as an operation engineer on a chemical plant processing line.  Ten years certifying process control instrumentation and advising clients on installation practices for process control instrumentation. Managed several different technical personnel at various stages of his career.

ISA member for more than 15 years.  Trained on Allen Bradley and Modicon PLC programming systems.  Proficient at reading P&ID, wiring drawings, and cable run index

While with FM Approvals, Provided technical training for controls professionals. Participated on ISA national committee. Authored ISA publication and presented paper during ISA conference. Details as follows:

  • One of two presenters for FM Approvals Hazardous Location Seminars, in this role I travelled to different states and provided training to other engineers on practices of installing process control equipment in a hazardous (classified) locations.
  • Was an active committee member on the ISA committees for SP12.02 and SP12.06.
  • Coauthored technical paper, “Recent Changes In The IEC Standards For Explosive Atmospheres”. Then presented this technical paper during ISA EXPO 2006.

Provides technical support for other DOE projects at other DOE facilities in the role as Controls technical advisor and DOE project reviewer:

  • Participated as DOE reviewer for LCLS-II project and LCLS-II-HE project multiple times at various phases of these projects.
  • Additionally, participated in JLAB PLC logic design review in support of their cryogenic plant project deliverables for another DOE facility.
