Alysha Tackett was appointed as the Programs and Planning Specialist for the Computing and Computational Sciences Directorate (CCSD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in March 2023. In this capacity, she collaborates closely with the Associate Laboratory Director (ALD) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) for CCSD. Drawing on her extensive administrative experience spanning over two decades, Alysha assists in formulating operational policies and goals, driving initiatives to enhance efficiency across the directorate.
Prior to her current role, Alysha held several key positions within ORNL. She began her journey in September 2019 as a Group Administrative Assistant in the Neutron Technologies Division of the Neutron Sciences Directorate, where she gained valuable insight into laboratory operations. Subsequently, Alysha transitioned to become the Division Administrative Assistant in the National Security Sciences Directorate’s Cyber Resilience & Intelligence Division, where she further honed her administrative skills.
In her most recent role prior to her current position, Alysha served as the Administrative Services Coordinator for CCSD, where she held a management role overseeing administrative assistants in the directorate. This experience provided her with valuable leadership and managerial skills, enhancing her ability to drive operational excellence.
Alysha's responsibilities extend to overseeing and providing programmatic support for a diverse range of internal and external outreach opportunities. From coordinating science outreach programs to organizing workshops and conferences, she ensures the successful execution of directorate-sponsored initiatives.
With her deep understanding of administrative best practices, Alysha works alongside the ALD, Division Directors, and COO to develop performance management plans and identify strategic objectives for the laboratory. Her proactive approach and thorough attention to detail contribute to the alignment of organizational goals with overarching strategic priorities.
Before joining ORNL, Alysha gained valuable experience as an Assistant Practice Manager at East Tennessee Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists in Oak Ridge.
Alysha holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Tusculum University and an Associate of Science degree in Business Management from Pellissippi State Community College.
