Project Management Specialist - ESTD

Amanda Thornton is the Project Management Specialist for the Energy Science and Technology Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Amanda coordinates proposal submissions lab-wide for the Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy. She assists with field work proposals, strategic partnerships projects, and Cooperative Research and Development Agreements across the directorate improving efficiencies while working with Principal Investigators, Program Managers, Division Proposal Coordinators, and Strategic Partnership Specialists.

Prior to her role at ORNL, she served as the Project Manager for Elastic Pictures. She has been at ORNL since 2022 and holds a B.S. in Media Management from Middle Tennessee State University and a M.B.A. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Amanda has a solid background in project management, process improvement, and problem-solving with an emphasis on communications, critical thinking, and teamwork.

Amanda is a native to Knoxville and in her free time, she enjoys volunteering, participating in local events and arts organizations, reading, traveling, and spending time with her two labradoodles.
