Bio
Ben was appointed to a newly created position, Isotope Science and Engineering Directorate Nuclear Waste Manager, in April 2023.
Prior to that, he served as REDC Facility Manager for the Nonreactor Nuclear Facilities Division (NNFD); NNFD Transportation Activity Owner and Asset Development Group Lead; and NNFD Work Management and Maintenance Group Lead. Before joining NNFD, he worked with HFIR, first as a shift technical advisor, then a control rod drive system engineer, as HFIR cold source lead engineer, and finally as the HFIR maintenance basis authority.
Ben joined ORNL in May of 2004. He previously worked for Emerson Process Management for several years with a focus on reliability, equipment troubleshooting, and non-destructive technologies.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in engineering management, both from the University of Tennessee.
