Industrial Collaborations Manager

Bob Slattery is the Manager of Industrial Collaborations of Department of Energy’s (DOE) Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).  The MDF is U.S. DOE’s first research facility established to provide industry with affordable and convenient access to infrastructure, tools and expertise to facilitate rapid adoption of advanced manufacturing. Currently, the MDF is focused on two primary technologies, i.e., Additive Manufacturing and Carbon Fiber/Composites. Mr. Slattery facilitates the MDF’s collaboration with equipment manufacturers, material suppliers, and end users to improve existing and emerging additive systems and revolutionize how products are designed and built. Mr. Slattery’s previous roles as a mechanical engineer, program manager and business development manager have included experiences in the areas of ceramic and polymer materials development and manufacturing process improvement. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Villanova University and a master’s degree in Engineering & Technology Management from Santa Clara University.
