Dr. Liu is a Research Associate Staff of ORNL’s Grid Interactive Controls Group in the Electrification and Energy Infrastructures Division. He received his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 2020. His work has focused on modeling and simulation of transactive energy system, learning-assist control, everything-to-grid (X2G) integration and and power system decarbonization.  Since joining ORNL, he involved in several projects on developing and validating software solutions for the application of Machine Learning to grid and X2G control problems. He applies methods from control, optimization, machine learning, data analytics in the developing customized grid applications, including data-driven modeling and control for power distribution networks.
