
Bio
Clinton Stipek is a Research and Development Associate in the Geospatial Data Modeling group within the Human Security Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. In this role, he assists across various projects which help to better understand human population patterns, the built environment, and the current energy infrastructure. During his tenure at the lab he has applied his multi-faceted skillset to a diverse range of projects, such as developing deep learning models to understand patterns of outages to engineering machine learning pipelines to infer building height at scale. His work has been published in journals such as Nature, IEEE Big Data, and Computers, Environment and Urban Systems. Prior to joining ORNL, Clinton worked at Verizon, in which he helped automate their 5G network pipelines as well as develop dashboards to help decision and policy makers understand complex, multi-faceted issues. He has his MS in Ecology from the University of Miami and his BS in Geophysics from the University of Washington. He is an active member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
