Eliott J Fountain

R&D Mechanical Engineer

Eliott received both his BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Tennessee and is currently a R&D Mechanical Engineer in the Remote Systems Group. Eliott has been with the Remote Systems Group since 2015 and has expertise in Remote Handling for Reactor Processes, Hot Cells, Gloveboxes, and many other radiation environments. During his time at ORNL, he has worked on several projects critical to ORNL’s core missions, including:

Eliott has been involved with several ground-breaking projects which have resulted in provisional patents and awards, including patent filings for Magnetically Coupled Reactor Shutdown Rod, Remote Worm-Drive Control Shroud Mechanism, and SD Card Neutron Shielding. Eliott is a recipient of a Joule Award from the NNSA for his role in the “SD Card Shielding Prototypes for the IAEA” project for both 2020 and 2021.

Eliott also enjoys several hobbies and extracurricular activities, including fishing, hunting, backpacking, playing guitar, and beer brewing.
