Elizaveta Tiukalova

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Dr. Elizaveta Tiukalova is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at ORNL in the Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy Group. She received her Ph.D in Materials Science and Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 2022. Her doctoral research focused on the applications of cryogenic scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) and Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (EELS) to study sensitive Li-ion battery materials applications. Prior to her Ph.D, she obtained Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Applied Physics and Mathematics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (Phystech, MIPT). Her current research interest focuses on unraveling the relationships between structure and electronic properties in quantum materials and related emergent phenomena, utilizing aberration-corrected cryogenic STEM imaging and monochromated electron spectroscopy techniques. Her particular interest lies in the exploration of 2D TMD materials and their heterostructures to uncover their fundamental properties and potential applications.
