Emma joined ORNL in 2021 as a Research Associate in the Human Analysis and Biometrics Group of the CRI Division in the National Security Sciences Directorate. Before joining the lab, Emma completed her PhD in Applied Mathematics at Purdue University in August of 2021. Her PhD research consisted of developing flexible super resolution techniques that incorporate data fusion across image domains. Her current research interests include super-resolution, computational imaging, time series analysis, and explainability of neural networks.

In her time at ORNL, Emma worked on problems in satellite imagery, critical infrastructures, biometrics, and identity. In FY25, Emma was awarded an Early Career Competition LDRD for the National Security Sciences Directorate. Her proposed work will investigate the trustworthiness and robustness of AI in super-resolution methods.

Emma is a member of IEEE and IS&T. She is a member of the organizing committee for Electronic Imaging's Computational Imaging conference.
