Evan S Barnwell

Administrative Services Coordinator

A native of the Knoxville area, Evan Barnwell has served at Oak Ridge National Laboratory since July 2017. He and his wife, Amber, live in Clinton with his two children. Evan serves as the Administrative Services Coordinator for Computing and Computational Sciences Directorate and in this role he ensures efficient administrative support for CCSD’s sections and groups by balancing administrative assistants’ workloads, helping them find professional development opportunities, provides coaching and mentoring, and manages directorate administrative functions overall. 

Evan joined ORNL in July 2017 as a Foreign National Specialist in the Laboratory Protection Division within the Facilities and Operations Directorate.  He went on to start up and manage the Chestnut Ridge Visitor Center at the Spallation Neutron Source and assisted with training new administrative staff within Neutron Sciences in foreign national access approval requests as a subject matter expert. Most recently, he has served as a Security Specialist within the Safeguards and Security group under Laboratory Protection Division.  Before joining ORNL, he was a Site Supervisor for Securitas Critical Infrastructure Services and served a term in the United States Navy Reserve as an Intelligence Specialist.

Evan is finishing up his B.S. degree in Professional Studies with a concentration in Organizational Leadership from Tennessee Technological University. He also holds extensive experience and knowledge garnered from his military service.
