BESSD Administrative Assistant | Helper | Creator | Storyteller 

Hayden (she/they) is an Administrative Assistant in the Environmental Sciences Division (ESD). She supports many individuals across of variety of groups to ensure their success. The groups include: 

Remote Sensing and Environmental Informatics (RSEI), which consists of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Distributed Active Archive Center (DAAC) Group Leader: Bruce Wilson 

Biogeochemical Dynamics (BgcD) Group Leader: Melanie Mayes 

Watershed Systems Modeling (WSM) Group Leader: Scott Painter

Hayden joined ORNL in April 2022.

They enjoy how their work at ORNL marries their love of science and nature while introducing them to others with the same interests.  
Hayden received her BA at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where they focused on interpersonal communication in social media about environmentalism and observed how this could aid or inhibit ongoing conversations, rising interest, and public opinion on protecting and preserving the environment. Hayden has two degrees from UTK, one in Communication Studies and one in Theatre.  

In their free time, Hayden enjoys learning about plants, fungi, mosses, forest ecosystems, and how to interact best, listen, and learn from the natural world. She loves most outdoor sports, especially hiking with her dog, Ari. They also enjoy Shakespeare, reading plays and books, acting, painting, hunting for antiques, and playing Dungeons and Dragons.
