Bio
Jamie Finney is an Research Software Build and Release Engineer on the DevOps Engineering team of ITSD. He previously worked as an HPC Software Support Enginneer in the System Acceptance and User Environment group of NCCS.
Originally from Winchester, TN, Jamie attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, before embarking on a circuitous journey of becoming a software engineer. He worked as an embedded software engineer for Emerson Automation Solutions while completing his Bachelor’s Degree, and then Perceptics before taking a position at the Innovative Computing Laboratory at UT. There he worked on the build system and continuous integration effort for the SLATE project while working on his Master’s degree.
For several years, he worked as a BMW Master Technician at a BMW dealership before returning to UT to complete his Computer Science degree in 2016. When not searching through documentation, he enjoys music, tabletop gaming, 3d printing, and spending time with his wife and two children.
