Jay Eckles

Division Director of Application Development

Dr. Jay Eckles is an IT leader who joined ORNL in 2021, bringing a quarter century of experience in the IT field. He leads the Application Development division of ITSD, a collection of over a dozen teams across three groups responsible for web development, software engineering, enterprise applications, business intelligence, and user experience. In addition to his role at ORNL, he is an adjunct faculty member in the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee where he teaches business analytics. His past experience includes time in government/research as well as private higher education, finance, and retail.  He has degrees in Computer Science, Business, Information Science, and Education from Rhodes College, Pennsylvania State University, and the University of Memphis.
