Bio
Jessica Langstaff manages the 24/7/365 operations and maintenance of the sewage treatment plant and sewage collection system, potable water storage and distribution system, and storm water collection system in the Mechanical Utilities Complex of the Utilities Division. The Utilities Division resides in the Facilities and Operations Directorate. She has served in this role for the past 5 years and was system engineer for those systems and associated facilities for 10 years prior to that. Jessica provides engineering oversight for LMD projects that require water or sewer services or management of storm water. She has experience supervising ATLC craft, developing and implementing ORNL work control, and is heavily involved with TDEC regulations and requirements.
Jessica is licensed by the State of Tennessee as a Grade II Wastewater Collection System Operator, Grade II Distributions System Operator, and Grade III Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. She is currently providing operator in direct charge duty for sewage treatment plant and acting as water purveyor for the ORNL site. Jessica graduated from the University of Tennessee Knoxville with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. She went on to graduate from Liberty University with a Master of Arts in Executive Leadership. She is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Tennessee as well as a Certified Energy Manager. She has served as the ORNL Excavation/Penetration SBMS SME since 2014. She has experience serving on the I Care/We Care Team and the Joint Labor Management Committee. She is also a LOSA graduate.
Outside of ORNL, Jessica is a 2016 graduate of Leadership Anderson County, where she went on to serve on the Board of Directors for a 3 year term, serving as secretary during the last year. She went on to graduate from East Tennessee Regional Leadership Association in 2017. She is very active in her church, serving in multiple ministries, and is active in Powell Community Cub Scout Pack 157 serving as Assistant Cubmaster and Committee Chair as well as the Advancement Chair for Boy Scout Troop 157.
Awards
Jessica is a UT-Battelle Awards night honoree, receiving Mission Support by Bargaining Unit Staff (Team Lead) in 2016, Mission Support in 2017, and Operational Performance in 2023. She also received the Director's Award for Team Accomplishment in 2023.
