Dr. Lietz's research focuses on improving the performance of quantum many-body physics calculations. This involves developing massively parallel algorithms and data structures for GPU based HPC platforms, and investigating ways in which machine learning and quantum computing can accelerate simulations. He is a co-developer of the Nuclear Tensor Contraction Library (NTCL) which is designed to perform tensor contractions on a variety of leadership class supercomputers including Frontier and Summit.
