Bio
Kevin Johns is a mechanical design engineer in the Target Engineering Group at the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS). He provides engineering support in the design, development, and fabrication of liquid metal targets operated at SNS which produce neutrons for scientific research. Kevin previously worked at ProNova Solutions as a mechanical engineer in the engineering R&D group working to develop next generation proton therapy systems. He joined ORNL in 2018 to help lead the effort in designing a new mercury target to support the Proton Power Upgrade (PPU). He helped lead a focused team through the PPU project phases from preliminary design to final design which gained CD-3 approval as a part of the overall PPU project. He is now beginning work on the development of a Moderator Test Station (MTS) at SNS which will support the development next generation moderators for use at SNS.
Kevin has a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Tennessee.
