Kita D Cranfill

Software Engineer

Kita Cranfill is a Software Engineer for the Software Services Development Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Web Design from Tennessee Tech and her Master of Science in Software Engineering from Pennsylvania State University. Mrs. Cranfill’s expertise focuses on the design and implementation of software tools for the Department of Energy.

At ORNL, Mrs. Cranfill supports projects within National Center for Computational Sciences (NCCS), Advanced Manufacturing (AMO), Building Technologies (BTO), Geoinformatics, and Transportation.

Her portfolio is a collection of visualization tools, energy cost calculators, data collection systems, mobile applications, and mapping tools which have contributed to millions of square feet of energy reduction and the pursuit of future energy research.

Mrs. Cranfill is an active member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and ORNL’s Women in Computing group. She is also a mentor for DOE’s Undergraduate Laboratory Internships program (SULI) which she uses to support the advancement of young computer science professionals.
