Born and Raised in Highland Park, Illinois, Graduated Highland Park High School 1976, Graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Arizona with a B.S. in Geology and a B.A. in Anthropology in 1980, MS Geology(Metamorphic Petrology) 1982 at the University of Michigan, Ph.D in Geology (Metamorphic Petrology) at the University of Michigan 1987.
