Senior R&D Staff

Dr. Lingxiao (Lincoln) Xue is currently a Senior R&D Staff at Electric Drive Research Group and the Subprogram Manager for Building Electric Appliances, Devices and Systems (BEADS) in Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He has over 16 years of hands-on experience in power electronics and architecture. In ORNL, he focuses on advanced power electronics and architecture concepts including wideband gap semiconductors adoption, high-frequency power conversion, power supply standardization, and wireless power transfer, to cut carbon footprint, improve user experience, and enable grid-interactive. Dr. Xue is the winner of 2022 Early Career Award in the Buildings and Transportation Science Division (BTSD). He held 10 US and international patents and has authored more than 30 papers in prestigious journals and conferences.

Dr. Xue received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 2006 and 2008, respectively. Since 2010, he joined Center for Power Electronics (CPES), Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA to pursue his Ph.D. degree, during which he pioneered the research on Gallium Nitride (GaN) wide bandgap power semiconductor, especially in electric vehicle charging applications. In 2015, he graduated with a Ph.D degree in electrical engineering and joined as the earliest application engineer in Navitas Semiconductor (El Segundo, CA, founded in 2014 and Nasdaq-listed in 2021). In Navitas, he developed the world smallest USB Power Delivery charger at that time and invented highly efficient 6.78 MHz wireless laptop charger by using GaN power integrated circuits. Since 2019, he has been a R&D Staff Member in Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Dr. Xue actively participates in IEEE activities and is a member of Power Electronics (PELS),  Industry Applications (IAS) and Industrial Electronics Societies (IES). He has been serving in the organizing committee of the IEEE Workshop on Wideband Gap Devices and Applications (WiPDA) since 2015. He also served in the IEEE Power Electronics Society as the Young Professionals Chair and Coastal Los Angeles Section Chapter Chair. He is also an Associate Editor for IEEE Open Journal of Power Electronics. Dr. Xue is a Senior member of IEEE.
