Bio
Mark Stapel is a Mechanical Design Engineer in the HFIR Systems Engineering group. Mark has over 30 years of experience in design engineering, project management and 3D CAD design. He designs new equipment as well as improvements to existing equipment, as well as creating drawings for fabrication. His design experience ranges from concept to completion, and a multi-industry background specializing in nuclear, apparel, textile, electronic packaging, automotive, and automation.
In 2011 and took a job with AECOM, designing several process glovebox systems and floor layouts for the Uranium Processing Facility that is going to be built at Y-12.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tennessee and has two highly recognized U.S. patents for his work on Sewing Machines. He and his wife Debbie has one child and a son-in-law. Mark's office is located in Bldg. 7964A Room 4.
