Dr. Md Masudur Rahman

Masud Rahman

Post Doctoral Research Associate - Applied Catalysis and Emissions Research

Dr. Md Masudur Rahman received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of South Carolina under the supervision of Dr. John R. Monnier and Dr. John R. Regalbuto. He received his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Chemical Engineering at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). During his Ph.D. he worked on direct epoxidation of propylene to propylene oxide and ethylene to ethylene oxide, Method development to measure active surface Ag site concentration for promoted Ag catalyst used in direct epoxidation of ethylene, dehydrogenation of methylcyclohexane hexane to toluene, synthesis of bimetallic catalyst by electroless deposition (ED) and strong electrostatic adsorption (SEA).
After receiving his Ph.D. he joined Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a Postdoctoral Researcher.
At the ORNL, Dr. Rahman is working on investigation of oxidation mechanism of ethanol, methanol, acetaldehyde, and formaldehyde on commercial diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) using diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) for emission control.
