Megan Theaker holds the Policy and Communications role for the Information Technology Services Directorate (ITSD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. She has worked at the lab since January 2020.

Megan has a Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary studies from ETSU with a focus on English-Communications and Sociology. She enjoys using her skills to achieve communication excellence. She has worked in administrative fields since 2007 and in Information Technology since 2012. Her experience includes building and maintaining technical training materials, corporate communications, troubleshooting end-user issues, as well as leading several Knowledge Base teams both within ORNL and outside. Prior to her work at the lab, Megan worked for several well-known companies such as TeamHealth, Functional Pathways, and US Bank.

Achieving communication excellence within IT structures by building Knowledge Bases, training materials, and easy-to-follow, informative announcements for the average layman is her goal. Megan believes more readily available and strategic communication in IT helps immensely with the spreading of much-needed information, knowledge, and training. It leads to better success for the team and the company.

Along with her professional writing endeavors, she enjoys writing in her spare time. She is a member of several writing groups in Knoxville and also hosts small Writing Retreats in the fall.
