The Honorable Nathan S. Zingg

Nathan S Zingg

Senior HPC Linux Systems Engineer

With a background in analytical biochemistry, Nathan began working in high-performance computing in the 1990’s, using computational chemistry approaches to elucidate structure-function relationships and three-dimensional structure determination of large biomolecules by NMR at the University of Kentucky.

A career shift to IBM led to a focus in Storage Management and expertise in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity.

Another pivot into DOD contracting led Nathan back into the HPC field, supporting Air Force Weather at the 557th Weather Wing at Offutt AFB. Nathan joins ORNL from his latest DOD stint supporting HPC resources of the US Army Corps of Engineers at ERDC-ITL in Vicksburg, MS.

A self-identified Kentuckian and proud Kentucky Colonel, yet Nathan enjoys deep, family roots in East Tennessee.

Outside work, Nathan casually enjoys hunting and fishing, travel, cuisine, and the arts. On the more serious side, Nathan has been privileged with part-time commitments in public service over the years, having served in local government in both Nebraska and Kentucky.
