Paul E Lane

Group Leader, Security Systems

Paul Lane is the Group Leader for the Laboratory Protection Division’s Security Systems. He currently manages the access control, intrusion detection, video assessment/surveillance systems, and the network infrastructure. Paul joined ORNL in 2003, where he led the Classified Computing department and served as the Communications Security Control Officer until 2014. Paul has over 40 years of experience within the areas of information technology and security systems.

Prior to his service at ORNL, Paul spent five years at Covenant Health as the video conferencing engineer and five years at the Y12 National Security Complex where he was the lead project engineer for the Army’s V Corps Advanced Command Post project. This prototype project provided V Corps with mobile command-and-control capabilities from Heidelberg, Germany to the deployed troops throughout Europe in support of the US operations in Bosnia.  He was awarded the NATO Medal for Service (as a civilian) for this endeavor.

Paul has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics from Chapman University, Orange, CA. and served seven years active duty with the US Air Force.

Paul has been married to his wife, Andrea, for 37 years and have two adult children, both living in Tennessee.
