Peter G Parker

Neutron Data Management Systems Engineer

Peter Parker is a Software Developer in the Neutron Systems Engineering and Support group in ITSD.

He received his first BSc in 2007 in Physics at the University of Warwick, and his second BSc in 2013 in Computer Science at Newcastle University.

Previously a Software Developer at the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source in the UK, he joined ORNL in 2015 and now builds tools to support neutron science at HFIR and SNS.

Peter is a customer-focussed full-stack developer.  He takes on all roles in the software development lifecycle -- requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, deployment, documentation and support.

Projects

  • Developer / Designer of ONCat, a metadata catalog used to browse, download and mint DOI's for neutron experiment data.
  • Application Support / Administrator for the NScD Slack workspace, a platform used by instrument staff to communicate and coordinate with experiment teams.
