Phillipe S Austria

Machine Learning Research Scientist

Phillipe’s professional career began with co-op positions as a process engineer with Kimberly-Clark, Proctor and Gamble, and Catalyst Paper. After earning his Chemical Engineering B.S. in 2010, he worked as a Photolithography Process Engineer for TSMC Washington (WaferTech) in the semiconductor industry until 2016. While working on his Computer Science M.S. and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), he served as a graduate assistant developing web applications, then latter become a research assistant in the Cyber and Network Security Lab under Yoohwan Kim, Ph.D. He was also a founding member and served as the president for UNLV's cyber security student organization, Layer Zero. During the summer of 2020 and 2021, Phillipe accepted a research internship with ORNL through the DOE Scholars Program. He was a member of the Augmented Analyst Intelligence group on the Cavendish project.

After earning his Computer Science Ph.D. from UNLV in May 2023, Phillipe accepted a full-time Machine Learning Research Scientist position in the Data Science and Visualization group at ORNL. In addition to these experiences, his career includes lead developer, head of development, and consultant roles with two startup companies.
