Rui Zhang

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Dr. Rui Zhang is a postdoctoral research associate in Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Buildings and Transportation Science Division. Dr. Zhang earned her master's and doctoral degrees in mechanical engineering from Syracuse University. During her MS, she concentrated on computational fluid dynamics modeling, indoor air quality, and building energy consumption. Afterward, her Ph.D. research focused on the effects of the thermal environment and air pollution on information technology equipment in data centers. Additionally, she is interested in combining fundamental research, various experimental techniques, cutting-edge modeling tools, data analysis, and end-user considerations. Following her graduation, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Syracuse University on a DOE-funded project involving an integrated whole-building energy efficiency retrofit solution for residences in cold and extremely cold climates.
