Bio
Saurabh is a PhD candidate at The University of Tennessee Oak Ridge Innovation Institute’s (UT-ORII’s) Bredesen center for Interdisciplinary Research and Graduate Education. He is working under the guidance of Dr. Parans Paranthaman at the Chemical Sciences Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). Before joining the Bredesen center he earned his master’s degree in Mechanical engineering at the University of Tennessee under the guidance of Dr. Uday Vaidya. His research during the masters was focused on thermoplastic impregnation of textile-grade carbon fiber. Prior to that he worked in the composite pressure vessel and hazardous area electrical equipment industries for 4 years. He obtained his B.S from Pune University in mechanical engineering. His research focus is on recycling of lithium-ion batteries, lithium extraction and high voltage cathodes.
