Scott Wellman is the Director of the Utilities Division within the Facilities & Operations Directorate where he oversees the delivery of essential services such as electricity, potable water, steam, compressed air, natural gas, chilled water, storm water collection, and sewage treatment at the laboratory. With a dedicated team available around the clock, Scott ensures that all operations are conducted safely, compliantly, and reliably.
Scott earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Ohio University in 1995 and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2007. Prior to joining ORNL, he accumulated 26 years of leadership experience in the electric power generation industry, with notable tenures at American Electric Power and TVA. Most recently, Scott served as the Manager of Component Maintenance Optimization at TVA’s Watts Bar Nuclear Plant.
Scott's leadership experience spans engineering, project management, planning, maintenance management, and 24/7 operations. He has a proven track record of cultivating a robust safety culture in the workplace and excels in leading 24/7 operations, making him a vital asset to ORNL’s mission and infrastructure.
