Sergey Yakubov

Senior Software Engineer

Dr. Sergey Yakubov received his Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematics from Saint Petersburg State
Polytechnic University, Russia, in 2005. Before joining ORNL, Dr. Yakubov developed
computational fluid dynamics codes at the Hamburg University of Technology during his
postdoc and later worked as a software developer at German Electron Synchrotron
Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY), Hamburg. At DESY, Dr. Yakubov led the
development of software products for experimental data and metadata management,
participated in multiple European cloud computing projects, and supported DESY users to
optimize and use their software for high-performance computing.

Dr. Sergey Yakubov started working in the Application Engineering Group in the CSMD division
of ORNL in April 2022, where he is taking a lead role in the development of the Neutrons Data
Interpretation Platform, a key part of creating an ecosystem for neutron scattering data analysis.
He is also contributing to developing infrastructure for the Interconnect Science Ecosystem.
