HPC Engineer

Tom Papatheodore received his PhD in computational astrophysics from the University of Tennessee in 2015 and has over 10 years of experience in high-performance computing (HPC). He first joined Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in 2015 as a postdoctoral researcher in the Scientific Computing group at the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility (OLCF). Afterward, he continued to work on-site at OLCF as a Solutions Architect for NVIDIA. In 2017, Tom joined the OLCF’s User Assistance & Outreach group as an HPC User Support Specialist and served as the OLCF Training Coordinator. Currently, Tom is an HPC Engineer in the System Acceptance & User Environments group at the OLCF, where he works on system acceptance and organizes training events for the OLCF’s upcoming compute systems. His interests are in GPU programming, HPC system testing, and HPC education.
