Bio
Vanshika Singh is a Ph.D. Candidate (2019-Present) at the Bredesen Center for Interdisciplinary Research and Graduate Education (UT-Oak Ridge Innovation Institute) in the Energy Science and Engineering Department. Her faculty advisors are Dr. Michael M. Kirka and Prof. Sudarsanam Suresh Babu. She has a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical and Automation Engineering from Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology, Delhi, India (2012-16), and worked at General Electric Aerospace (formerly GE Aviation), India for three years (2016-19). Her research interest is nature-inspired structural design via Additive Manufacturing. Her research projects include component redesign for power plants and gas turbines. During her graduate studies, she has one accepted peer-reviewed journal paper, one under-review paper, one provisional patent, secured first-runner up in Blue Sky Competition by 49th NAMRC conference, and NSF student grant recipient for MPIF 2021 & 2022.
